This expansive tour explores Chile’s spectacular desert, mountain scenery and Patagonian wilderness, and allows time to discover some fascinating Chilean traditions.

Day 1 — Fly to Santiago

Overnight flight from London (regional connections available) to Santiago with British Airways

Day 2 — Arrive Santiago

Morning arrival and transfer to the Plaza El Bosque Ebro Hotel for 2 nights and a welcome dinner.

Meals: dinner

Day 3 — Santiago

Morning tour of Santiago, including the cathedral, the historic main square, and Sky Costanera – part of the tallest building in South America – for views across the city and the Andes beyond. Afternoon drive into the countryside to the Undurraga vineyard for a tour and wine tasting.

Day 3.1 — Transfer: Santiago to San Pedro de Atacama

Day 4 — Fly to Calama - San Pedro de Atacama

Early morning flight to Calama and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama for 3 nights at Hotel Kimal / Poblado Kimal (or similar). Afternoon excursion to the Valley of the Moon to see the mesmerising change of colours at sunset.

Day 5 — Atacama Desert

Full-day journey into the spectacular desert landscape. Visit the Atacama salt flats, where pink flamingos may be seen, and stop at the small village of Toconao, with its white volcanic stone buildings. Continue to a traditional farm for lunch and visit Tebinquinche lagoon.

Day 6 — Atacama Desert

Enjoy a day at leisure or take an optional excursion to El Tatio geysers or the 17th-century fortress of Pukará de Quitor.

Day 6.1 — Transfer: San Pedro de Atacama to Puerto Varas

Day 7 — Fly to Lake District via Santiago

Fly to Puerto Montt via Santiago and transfer to the town of Puerto Varas for 2 nights at Cabaña del Lago Hotel, set on the lake.

Meals: breakfast

Day 8 — Puerto Varas

In the morning visit Petrohué Falls and take a boat trip on Lake Todos los Santos. Afternoon drive up the lower reaches of the Osorno Volcano for views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 9 — Fly to Punta Arenas - Puerto Natales

Fly to Punta Arenas and continue to Puerto Natales, set amid jagged peaks and the glassy waters of Last Hope Sound. Stay overnight at the Hotel Costaustralis (fjord-view room).

Day 9.1 — Transfer: Puerto Natales to Torres del Paine National Park

Day 10 — Torres del Paine

Drive across the wilds of Patagonia to Torres del Paine National Park. Full-day tour taking in the dramatic scenery of granite peaks, emerald lakes, waterfalls and ancient lenga forests. There is also the opportunity to meet the local rangers and learn about their work in the park. Stay at Hotel Lago Grey / Pampa Lodge for 2 nights.

Day 11 — Torres del Paine

Morning shared boat excursion on Lake Grey for an up-close view of its strikingly blue glacier. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure or take one of the optional tours.

Day 11.1 — Transfer: Torres del Paine National Park to Punta Arenas

Day 12 — Punta Arenas

Drive to Punta Arenas, visiting a traditional Patagonian estancia en route. Discover how people live in this remote region and enjoy a farewell lunch of typical quincho barbecue. Short afternoon tour of Punta Arenas, situated on the Magellan Strait, and overnight at Hotel Almasur (or similar).

Day 12.1 — Transfer: Punta Arenas to Santiago

Day 13 — Fly to Santiago

Fly to Santiago for a final night at the Plaza El Bosque Ebro.

Day 14 — Fly to London

Morning at leisure before your overnight flight to London with British Airways, arriving the next day.

Hotel Plaza El Bosque Ebro

Hotel Plaza El Bosque is situated in Santiago’s wealthy El Golf neighbourhood, not far from the landmark Gran Torre Costanera skyscraper with its sky-high observation deck, and a range of shopping centres, restaurants and green spaces to enjoy. Guests are accommodated in comfortable, spacious rooms and suites. The hotel restaurant serves international dishes through to the evening, while the bar offers cocktails, wines and premium spirits. There is also a heated pool, gym, games room, and spa room. The rooftop on the 17th floor offers sweeping panoramic views of the city - an ideal spot to relax and unwind.

Hotel Poblado Kimal

Hotel Poblado Kimal is a rustic-style, property, situated in the centre of San Pedro de Atacama. There are 21 charming wood and adobe cabañas, offering simple yet comfortable accommodation. Each cabaña has its own small terrace and is set amid an old orchard, with wooden walkways linking the accommodation with the main building. The property has a small outdoor pool with a cascade and the restaurant is located just around the corner from the main hotel.

Hotel Cabaña del Lago

The lakeside Cabaña del Lago Hotel is close to the centre of Puerto Varas and offers sweeping views of the town and the Osorno volcano. Its location is best appreciated from the restaurant, which overlooks the lake and surrounding scenery. The bar offers a cosy alpine ambience with outdoor fire burners and ponchos provided for cooler evenings. Rooms are spacious and feature traditional colourful Chilean textiles and artwork.

Hotel Costaustralis

Hotel Costaustralis was designed by a local architect who planned the entire facade with floor-to-ceiling windows that face on to the sound, offering spectacular sweeping views from the bar, the restaurant and the lounge. With 110 rooms, the Costaustralis is the town’s largest hotel, but it retains a certain cosiness with its grass cloth wallpaper offset by wooden trim and ceilings, plants and soft lighting. Facilities include a restaurant, room service and a laundry service.

Hotel Lago Grey

Hotel Lago Grey has a privileged location inside the national park at the banks of Lake Grey, making it the perfect base for your hike to the glacier or the French Valley. Take in the pristine views of the turquoise celestial waters of Lake Grey after a buffet breakfast. There are a number of excursions at your disposal, from navigating around floating icebergs to hiking to one of the many unforgettable valleys, lakes and mountains. Later on watch the shades of blue change with the weather as you enjoy your lunch and dinner with a glass of Chilean wine at the restaurant.

Almasur Hotel Punta Arenas

Hotel Almasur is centrally situated in the town of Punta Arenas and is a ten-minute walk from the harbour. Its exterior features Tudor-esque timber beams, whilst its interior is homely and welcoming. Rooms are understated and comfortable, with cable television, minibar, hairdryer, safety deposit box, heating, and room service as standard. Further facilities include an on-site restaurant serving Chilean cuisine; a bar; a hot tub; a sauna; and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout.
