Explore the archaeological ruins of Pompeii today. This Roman resort town lay buried in AD 79 after a sudden, massive eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Most locals could not escape, and thick layers of ash and lava preserved many details of day-to-day life.

The guided walking tour offers a clear glimpse into the lifestyle of this once-thriving town. Household items remain on display as they did hundreds of years ago, providing insight into ancient Roman customs, art and trades. Even the walls, marked with shop signs and electoral graffiti, remain compelling.

Today we journey along one of the world’s most spectacular and famous routes: the Amalfi Coast. This 50km stretch of stunning coastline winds its way along the Sorrentine Peninsula from Sorrento to Salerno, with breathtaking vistas of land and seascapes. With our guide, wind along to pretty Positano by road, before taking to the water to glide towards iconic Amalfi by boat – so you’ll have the added bonus of seeing the coastline from the sea. Return by boat to Sorrento.

Today is at leisure to explore SantʼAgata sui Due Golfi or to take the local bus to Sorrento. You can also pre-book an optional excursion to Mount Vesuvius to learn about the history and geology of this restless mountain. After, you’ll stop for a leisurely wine tasting and light lunch at a winery on the fertile slopes of the volcano. This famous Neapolitan wine, Lacrima Christi (tears of Christ), is grown right here, giving the grapes a unique flavour.

Head to the ‘jewel of the Bay of Naples’ - the idyllic island of Capri. As we approach by private boat, you’ll see the island’s famed limestone cliffs soaring from the sparkling blue water. Take in the sights of the island from the water on a private guided boat tour. Accompanied by local Capri guide, we then travel up to Capri town via funicular to take in the sights of this beautiful town.

Spend your final day soaking up the sights of Sorrento, or perhaps wander down to one of the bathing platforms for a spot of relaxation. This evening, enjoy a traditional farewell dinner together at a local restaurant on Sorrento Pier. The beautiful views across the sea will only enhance Sorrento’s renowned sunsets.
